gah... baka computers

lazchanI was trying to fix our computer so that it would run faster, and then in the process of trying to do this, it went POOF. A registry went missing. >_< So after staring in shocked disbelief at my broken computer, I hightailed it over to my neighbors house--got there *just* as he was leaving--and he promised to make me a boot disk when he got home. Yay! That worked. ^^ He wasn't home for several hours, which I spent calling various computer places and making sure the boot disk would work.
So the computer is acting a little wacky--leftovers from the last time I 'saved' things, I guess. Then I find out Java doesn't work on the computer. Something about VM isn't supported anymore--no *wonder* it died. So I download the newest version and it *still* doesn't work. I try all the troubleshooting tips I can think of. I format things, I play with settings, I erase things, I change more settings... I do the same things over and over again. I delete the java and reinstall it. >__< I have to tell my mother--whose games depend on the Java program--that it's not working. I download a temp version of one of the games she plays--and then try and try again. Finally, I give up--by this point its nearing 1am and Im dead tired. I take little naps off and on... somewhat naps. I think it was more of sheer exhaustion and starting up to glance at my computer. I think if I did sleep, any dreams I had were computer related. >_<
Finally.. about ten minutes ago, I decide to try one of the games on a whim. It works. O.o To my intense shock. Out of the blue. I didn't do anything different then before, unless you count Stef handing me a virtual mallet. ^_^ Maybe that's what it needed.
On another note, it was pouring today. Flood warnings and all. ^^;; I adore the rain--it's such great weather if you don't have to go out and drive in it. I stared at it for awhile, amazed that we were finally getting rain. We'd been having some rather dry weather. So the rain was good. ^_^
Today was the last day of school for the kids in this area. I have a few friends that graduated, and my nephew is no longer in the 2nd grade. He had a little brunch today and got his certificates for being such a good student. ^_^ Cute stuff. Now I have the entire summer with him. *daunted*
And if all goes as planned--I'll have an interview today for a job. The owner said Saturday... I'm hoping he'll call and be like.. "come down now" or something--cause he hasn't called to arrange the time yet. *whimper* I really *really* hope that he accepted my application and didnt toss it out or something. I need this job.
