Why do we have to grow up? To get married and have children and all that mess that seperates us?

Why can't we stay innocent forever, with our dreams and hopes that make the days worth living, of adventures and stories and laughter? Why do we have to give that up?

I don't want to join the rest of the world in the way of finding my mate and creating the next generation. I want to leave my mark with my words and ideals and the people I meet.

If growing up means giving up the dreams of yesteryear and the hopes of tomorrow, I'll stay firmly in the life that I'm in. Childish, hopeful and dreaming.

I know I'm not the only one.

I'm eighteen. I turned eighteen a few years ago and stopped growing after that. :)

I think loss of innocence is inevitable, unless you die young. But I don't think you need to be innocent to hold on to your hopes & dreams. Giving those up - like starting a family - is completely optional. :)

:) True, true. But I just wish people didn't expect you to start a family and then give you funny looks when you don't.
