I know! That is so weird. I was just driving an hour ago and heard about it on the radio and I was like, "what?" I just didn't expect him, of all people, to die of an overdose...

yeah, it's weird, because my dad was in the car with me when we heard the news, and he was all taken aback as well. And the announcer who was talking with the correspondent on the radio seemed really surprised and sympathetic. And they both talked about how it was such young talent going to waste, which is exactly how I feel.

I mean, what's really weird is he's going to be the Joker in the new Batman movie coming out...and then I'm gonna be watching him and knowing that he's actually dead. Gah.

I agree-- it's just one of those shock moments--I remember loving him in Ten Things I Hate About You-- and just now it's gone...

My parents always used to talk about this star or that singer dying from overdoses and stuff in the 70's and all. And it happens now, even--

but Heath Ledger was not one of the ones I'd ever think would go that route. I'm hoping it was accidental somehow? *sighs* but it doesnt seem like it and they're ruling out foul play....

Yeah, the first thing I thought when they described the scene was that he must have killed himself, which is so weird, because Britney Spears has been trying to kill herself forever and it hasn't worked. I mean, I'm seriously waiting for her to die and then someone I totally didn't expect did it instead. *shakes head*

I guess he did break up with his wife only a year ago...but he'd been doing really well with some new movies in production. So, I don't get it...he must have been really depressed.

if I really think about it, I think the person who would really surprise me the most with an early suicide would be someone like Toby Maguire. I mean, if that guy kills himself, I'll start believing the world has really gone insane.

So sad. ;_; Just goes to show that you can be rich, famous, successful, and still be miserable in life. Even if it isn't suicide, to be turning to drugs generally means you're trying to escape from something.

actually, it's been reported that he was having trouble sleeping and was just getting over having pnuemonia. They might rule it as an accidental overdose depending on how much is in his system.

But yea, definately sad. I almost cried. no joke.

Yeah, no, the news I've read thusfar is saying that he was recovering from pneumonia, having trouble sleeping, and had been prescribed sleeping pills. I think this is just a really misfortunate accidental overdose with him trying to get sleep during an admittedly stressful time for him. It's a huge tragedy. =(

* reads some article * Now, I don't remember seeing any films with him in it but it's still sad. He was too young. :(
