You know, I don't know if I've mentioned this before--but I think my year in Japan is going to do wonders for me.

As ely_chan knows, when I first came out to Utah for college, I was very different. Shy, scared of just being around people--no self confidence whatsoever. But, as time went by, I started to gain that and I changed a lot.

Japan is doing the same thing. Bit by bit, I'm growing up more, living on my own and holding a job that involves teaching people younger than me about my culture, my language--interacting in a completely foreign environment without a great deal of help. I'm already gaining more self confidence just by being here.

My self esteem probably will never grow my leaps and bounds, but I think when I come back, it's going to be loads better; how I view and hold myself and how others will view me because of that.

<3 That's what I'm hoping Japan would do for me. My creative writing prof who wrote me a reference letter for JET said you needed a year away from your home and family to actually understand yourself. And that you couldn't really write your novel until you've done that. It's sort of a terrifying idea, really.

this is true. You went from begging me for rides everywhere, avoiding most of your roommates (well, I don't blame you there) to getting your own cell phone and dealing with the idiots of Logan all on your own!

Oh, I eat those a lot, too. XD Carrots, tomatoes and cucumbers. XD
