I suppose I should totally post my pictures of the weekend up. <3 I helped out with a elementary/junior high Halloween party thing; they needed native speakers to talk with the kids (whose english was low enough that we could get away with some Japanese) and the kids were adorable in their costumes.

Afterward, some of the teachers treated us to dinner and drinks at this fabulous little restaurant nearby; Bistro Vin. We got this meal thing where the food kept on coming and coming. It was really tasty stuff, too--the teachers were super nice and it was wonderful meeting other ALTs in the area. (Especially ones that teach senior high, like me!)

We ended up doing Karaoke, and it was a BLAST (as I find it always is in Japan especially) and we picked some great songs, funny songs and yes, I was social. Fancy that!
The next day, Stephen, Molly and I went to a Zen temple in Yamaga, little bit away from where I live (almost like the next town over) and did mediation, chanting and lunch with the monks. Each thing, of course, had its own ceremony. They let us take some pictures of the inside of the temple, but my camera was dying so some of them were dark and didn't come out, but I got some really neat ones.

I tried to take a picture of the inscription of what was Buddha's feet, but it didn't come out. I've been told that sometimes, this happens. XD
After the temple, we went to Ryumon Dam, which is one of the two in the area and we chatted about all sorts of things, including Molly and mine's morbid thoughts that we got Stephen to join in on.
(The drive up to the Zen temple was on this impossibly small, narrow road with huge drop-offs to the side, I happened to make a comment of "Wonder if anyone's driven off the edge of these...?" and Molly's comment was at the Dam and people falling. Stephen eventually joined in with "If this Dam goes, this village is toast...")
It was a really nice weekend, but exhausting in its own way, but still tons of fun.
