Alright, guess I should give my con report. XD I'm terrible at these things, so bear with me.
We left from SLC about 9-ish, got stuck on the runway for a bit and we were up in the air around 10 and on our way to LA. After navigating the airport (I swear, I always end up in the same area when I go to LAX) we met up with
lynxgriffin and Tegu, grabbed our luggage and had our first day of getting luggage plus people into the van.
We spent some time at the Howard Hughes Center, grabbed food and then crashed at Borders until
voodoobob's flight came in. More luggage navigating and a long car trip later, we were at our crashing place for the night. =D (Thanks again to Lynx's roommates for putting up with us)
Friday and the first day of Con. We thought it'd be easy--we got there about 8:30-ish and then saw the line. The line that was for both the pre-reg and the register-at-con people alike. It was...not so fun. Three and a half hours later, we finally got our badges and holders,
voodoobob and Elicia got their Artist Alley tables and we set off to enjoy the con. I loved seeing the people in costume and commenced taking pictures of those that stood out to me (and yes, shamelessly took lots of KH pictures). Hung out with
voodoobob and Elicia most of the time during the first day; black coat + hours in the sun =/= fun for the first day.
When it came time to check in to our hotel, we decided to walk up to it, since we figured it wasn't THAT bad of a walk...It really wasn't in a lot of ways, but carrying props and whatnot made it more difficult for me. Checking in was an adventure, too--they tried to overcharge both my room and
lynxgriffin's room, when we had already reserved and paid for the room. Not a happy moment and when we got to our room, I realized that we were given the wrong room. :(
But all was worked out, we settled our stuff and headed back to the con. Which didn't have all that much time left, since it was the first day, but it was fun. Dealers Hall exits suck beyond all reason; coming out by the other end of the convention center and having to circle all the way around was REALLY poor planning, guys. But--I always love visiting Artist Alley (so many pretty things!)
Saturday was a bit better; had the Anna Tsuchiya concert to go to, so we left early enough to get our tickers for our nice seats and all. My friend and I got our picture taken by guys with spiffy cameras (wish I knew who you were, dudes!) and then waited around for the hall to open up to sit down. Found out no props in the hall, so did the dance around the convention center to bring my props and camera to
voodoobob to watch over. On my way there, I was glomped by a Kairi and hugged by a Namine, simply by being Roxas. =D
The concert was a blast---very LOUD, but really fun, too. (Didn't realize that I was in seat 13 until I got home. XDD) Made my way back to Artists Alley, grabbed my stuff and wandered around again, taking pictures and just generally hanging around. Had the KHFFR gathering that night and meeting people in person was really funny, since we'd introduce ourselves and what we were known for and everyone would be like "Oh, so that's you?. XDDD Intersting cosplayers here and there, including a Roxas and Sora, wearing towels. Wow, guys-- gotta hand it to you for being...brave? Something like that. *laughs*
I went to the June panel after that, which was mainly a "this is what we're coming out with" panel, and then some questions and prize giving away. I got to ask a question and since I was so short, someone later made the comment about "chibi Roxas." I was blushing rather hard and then had to feel proud that she knew who I was.
Sunday was the KH gathering, which was awesome (hopefully my other friends will also supplement pictures of the gathering, my camera died on Day 2) and there were some great costumes. There was even a Carpet and Armoured Xemnas and that wonderful AntiSora I spotted the day before. Later on, we got invited to play Final Mix + by
yuukihikari later in the day and it was a BLAST. We all fangirled over it, got our butts kicked by Roxas and generally gaped over the rest of the data-Organization member boss battles.
My gamer ego died a little that night, but it was so much fun. Then we all fangirled and yelled at
lynxgriffin for her fabulous AMV and soon after that, we headed back so we could try and catch the shuttle again. Going back to the hotel, I had a random person take a picture of me *laughs* but Saturday was obviously the best day for me and pictures. I wish I knew who took all of them! I want to see how it all turned out. =D
Monday was a non-costume day for me, since we were leaving early that day, but I still had fun. XDD Got my Artists Alley loot and Sora plushie-- and all was right with the world. =P There were many SNAFU;s here and there, but overall? It wasn't that bad.
There was one really bad thing that I still feel guilty about, but it's slowly getting resolved... but XDDD yeah. It was fun.
Edit: Can't believe I didn't mention it, but I met
questofdreams, too-- and she's super adorable in person. XD Lots of fun to meet and we got a picture together. (Once her sister comes back with the pictures, I'll see how it turned out.)
