Apr. 3rd, 2007 03:19 pmDear Patricia Thacker,
It is our great pleasure to inform you that you have successfully passed the 2nd stage of the screening process for the 2007 JET Program and have been selected as an alternate Assistant Language Teacher. This means you are now on the waiting list to determine if you will participate on the Program this year. You may be upgraded to a “short listed” (placement pending) participant as early as the end of April, or as late as the end of October. Alternate candidates are asked to be prepared to leave on as little as two weeks’ notice.
Well, it's not what I hoped for-- b/c such little notice is rather... well, hard to deal with. And waiting yet again. That is frustrating and now I'm 'second-choice'. >_> I mean, I wasn't rejected totally, but still.....
Edit: I know it's not as bad as it seems, a lot of the alternates get promoted to full status-- but it's the waiting again. I can't exactly put my life on hold while I wait for someone to call or email me. It could happen in the next so many days, the end of the month--or sometime in the summer. Now, I have a job in the summer that I can work at, and my roommate suggested getting another campus job-- since I'll be a graduate, I can have a salaried position. I'll see what I can work out with that. Two jobs will help nicely with paying for rent and other expenses. And the second job will be something I can possibly keep if I never get called for JET.
It's terribly disappointing and frustrating all at the same time, but there isn't much I can do, except fill out the correct paperwork and hope for the best.
