If you think you'll be offended, please don't read and leave nasty notes in my journal.
Bush has never been a favorite of mine. He's made decisions that I never fully agreed with--views that never meshed with mine, etc. But tonight, he gave a speech at Ft. Bragg in N.C. One of the things he said was 'the bloodshed in Iraq was worth it.'
Excuse me? Since when is anything like that WORTH IT? I believe in the troops, I support them and wish them the best, but I also wish them home. They don't need to be over there any longer--this stupid war has gone on for far too long. I didn't mind it so much when it first started, but it's been too long and it's not accomplishing anything but more deaths--civillian and solider alike. I'm sure everyone knows somebody over there--I know several people--many of the people I went to high school are over there. My first boyfriend is over there.
The way he is talking about sending more troops over, of having people in reserve to go fight the battle in Iraq, pisses me off. Our soldiers are not toys that he can parade around a battlefield. They are men and women that believe in our country, in preserving it, yes--but they are not mindless weapons that can easily be disposed of!
I'm just so pissed over this right now and I just want this war to END. I want us out of there and our troops back home.
