Jan. 4th, 2008 09:22 pmOkay, since I've finally hit my picture limit for LJ...about
half my photos are on LJ, then I have the entire set up on my Snapfish account. Guess I should do that whole trip update thing. XD Perhaps with a photo or two to highlight things? XD
Well, to start off--the trip was from Fukuoka to Tokyo. Had some lovely fun with the metal detectors, as I said before, but after that--we were free in Tokyo and to um....find our place. Took a bit of finding (although the town was easy) and two residents and a few side streets later, we were at our hostel. Yayyyy for hostels and thumping down luggage. The was on the 22nd. Our first of many days in Tokyo.
Here's a lovely photo of the place--well, the inside of our room at least.

We visited various places like Shibuya, Shinjuku, Harajuku (shame I didn't get a picture of that place, but it was WAY crowded, but was pretty awesome to go through) and a few other random places. Including our hunt for the Square Enix store. ;_; Yeah, we should have figured out we were walking too far, went down a few side streets and all sorts of fun, but we eventually found it. Tiny little place....

but it did have lots of shiny stuff and Sephiroth in the floor. lol

Our hostel was in Asakusa, which has a pretty awesome shrine and a kinda infamous landmark. Any guesses to what this looks like? Bonnie and I had random jokes going the rest of the trip for this thing...

This is a picture of a ceremony that was taking place right after we were walking out of the shrine.

On our way to Tokyo Tower (lovely walk, that was, too...) we saw roller-blading Santas. Never got to find out the story behind them....

And.... it's the tower! From a bit far away still, but probably the best shot of it.

but some pictures of the city from one of the observation points...

And I doubt this is the same day (they all blended together at one point O.o) but we went to (Y)Ebisu Gardens. Bonnie bought beer-flavored chocolates for her sister.

(name that drama!)
Back to Shibuya area, we found the infamous Hachiko statue. Even mentioned it to one of my teachers and he knows all about it. XD

And these guys were awesome. I got hugged by three cute Japanese guys, a Japanese girl and one of them was dressed as Santa. LOL

And Tokyo was doing a Lightopia thing for Christmas--here's one of the shots I managed to get.

And that I believe sums up the first three days in Tokyo? We did a lot of shopping, lol. Shibuya Tower Records is SEVEN floors, with an entire floor devoted to books written in English. We were at the famous Scramble Crossing (right near the Hachiko statue) and just generally had fun.
On Christmas, we went to Tokyo DisneySea.
(when I update again. XD)

Also, did you stay at the Sakura Hostel in Asakusa?
And YAYZ for DisneySea-- I hope you and Bonnie got to see more of it than Bonnie and I did, because we got kicked out early when we went there together. Plus my glasses broke while we were on a ride, so we unfortunately wasted time trying to repair them. :(
Also, I did that Tokyo Tower walk, too. Twice. Once from closer-by, but once from over 7km away, when I had no idea what 7km meant. So yeah, at least now your legs are toned!
:D Happy New Year's!

Date: 2008-01-06 10:46 am (UTC)Oh-- we stayed at a hostel that was something Tokyo Smile--really cute little place, helpful staff.
<3 And yeah, we stayed there until a little past nine, after I took a dive into the sidewalk. (and after the fireworks XD) It was really cool just to walk around and see things--I need to post my pictures for that, too.
